NordStream; Germany Owned

There are two separate stories about NordStream. Firstly the pipelines appear to have been deliberately damaged and put out of action permanently. Secondly, and more importantly, the USA has over the last months openly said they will stop Germany getting gas via NordStream2.

This article deals with the second of the two issues. You can read the partner article “NordStream: Germany Attacked“.

Gas flames despite sanctions?
Gas

America has had its eye on German energy for some time now. Most will remember the speech given by Trump in the UN, telling Germany to disconnect from Russia, followed by the German delegation laughing at him. But perhaps what has been missed is the Sanctions Act that the US congress passed into law in 2017. It outed US interests, strategy and approach.

The anti democratic paper trail

"COUNTERING AMERICA'S ADVERSARIES THROUGH SANCTIONS ACT"
states its aim as:
To provide congressional review and to counter aggression by the Governments of Iran, the Russian Federation, and North Korea, and for other purposes.

Just from this opening explanation we can see firstly that the control and suppression of the Russian Federation is an intent. This alone gives President Putin’s claims substance.

Secondly the “other purposes” are many and hidden in the rest of the text. Let’s look for some of them…

Under the act “SEC. 257. <> UKRANIAN ENERGY SECURITY.” we have rather interesting reference to Nordstream2.

(9) to continue to oppose the NordStream 2 pipeline given
its detrimental impacts on the European Union's energy security,
gas market development in Central and Eastern Europe, and energy
        reforms in Ukraine; and

Part 9 says that the USA will oppose NordStream because it is detrimental to energy reforms in Ukraine. It states the aim is to control the gas market development in Europe. Something that surely the Europeans should be in control of and not the USA.

(10) that the United States Government should prioritize the
export of United States energy resources in order to create
American jobs, help United States allies and partners, and
        strengthen United States foreign policy.

Part 10 gives insight into motivation and benefits. It states they want to sell more of their own energy to Europe, increase American jobs and strengthen US foreign policy. Strengthen US foreign policy is just a more neutral wording for controlling other countries to get them to support what is in American interests.

Biden can’t keep his mouth shut, luckily…

Going further it was clear from the video of Biden that America calls the shots and Germany will be allowed only what the USA considers in their interests; economically as well as strategically.

The video from 7th February 2022 went as follows.

President Biden: "If Russia invades [with tanks etc] then there will be no longer a NordStream2. We will bring an end to it."

Reporter: "But how will you do that, exactly, since...the project is in Germany's control?"

President Biden: "I promise you, we will be able to do that."

Interestingly it would appear that the reporter noticed the political faux pas. Stopping Nordstream is a German-Russian decision. The reporter seems to use the second question to warn him to reword it… but the blithering idiot goes “all in”!

The original tweet from ABC with the video.

How did they want to do this?

Again we fall back to the paper trail, “COUNTERING AMERICA’S ADVERSARIES THROUGH SANCTIONS ACT” as it gives so much insight.

Ironically it seems the “Sanctions Act” is to America, what “Mein Kampf” was to Hitler. It exposes the anti-democratic intent of the American government in much the same way. Mapping out publicly, devious intent, justifications and approach is just a classic repeat of history.

Following on from the 9 & 10 above we have:

(b) Plan To Promote Energy Security in Ukraine.--
        […] Secretary of Energy,
shall work with the Government of Ukraine to develop a
plan to increase energy security in Ukraine, increase the amount
of energy produced in Ukraine, and reduce Ukraine's reliance on
energy imports from the Russian Federation.

The USA, and Biden, investing much in Ukraine has new meaning in context of this part of the Act. In addition one must start thinking that Ukraine investments is a new version of the Panama papers, with insider knowledge in the hands of Western politicians. Evidence none, but it would certainly fit. Even the west’s recent rejection of any negotiated end fits this possibility.

The strategy described in section 261 shall contain the following…

Section 261 also makes fun reading. This Act completely dispels any claims that Russia is being sanctioned because of entering Ukraine or their support for the Russian speaking Ukrainian regions.

Conclusion

European economies accessing affordable Russian energy was a very serious threat to the United States. References both to jobs and influencing foreign policy make that clear. Its timing, 2017, coincided with the American recognition that the US Coup in Ukraine was not enough to hurt Russia. And perhaps more importantly not slowing or stopping Germany or other European nations either.

Remember until now the Petrodollar allowed the US government to artificially lower energy for themselves for competitive reasons. This has been done away with by China, Russia and Iran. All countries that are being taken on at the same time.

The EU expansion with former Warsaw Pact countries too is a construct that helps the USA twice. It holds the EU productivity back as the poorer countries need support; but in addition it effectively forces the EU to be part of the provocation and threat to the economic security of Russia.

By doing this the US works to kill two birds with one stone, whilst leaving the EU to pick up the mess if it all goes wrong. And boy, is it is all going wrong!

I was in great pains writing this, not because I would like to cover up, but because of Germany. The German government find themselves walking on egg shells and with little chance to choose a new path that is workable. Now that the pipelines are destroyed, rejecting the self-serving policies of the USA and returning to energy from Russia is no longer an option. They are forced to support their own economic demise and continue support for a violent vigilante government with Nazi ideals in Ukraine. Not the nicest of positions to be in.
